This shot has an intriguing story. We arrived at the park in the early morning, drawn by news of a leopard’s deer kill. When we reached the site, the carcass lay partially eaten, yet the predator itself was nowhere in sight. Our guide suggested we wait near a nearby waterhole—an ideal vantage point where the leopard might come to quench its thirst while still allowing us to keep an eye on the kill.
As we sat in quiet anticipation, the jungle suddenly erupted with a thunderous trumpet. Out of nowhere, a massive male elephant emerged from the far side of the waterhole, commanding the scene with sheer presence. At that moment, all thoughts of the elusive leopard faded—the unexpected grandeur of the elephant became the highlight of our day.
